FDISK Starts the Fdisk program, which configures a hard disk for use with MS-DOS. Fdisk displays a series of menus to help you partition your hard disk(s) for MS-DOS. Note: Fdisk has a command format not delared by Microsoft. The command format is: "FDISK /MBR". Use this command to rewrite the Master Boot Record with a standard hard disk boot program. This may affect some multiple OS startup programs. This doesn't affect existing partitions. FDISK changes boot sectors of created partitions, so if partition table information is lost, you should not use FDISK if you still want the data. You can try using Norton Disk Doctor (NDD.EXE) for MS-DOS included in Norton Utilities 4.0 or higher for Windows 9x to find the lost partition information back. If you want to format created partitions, be sure to restart your computer before doing that. Or, newly created partitions will not be recognized by FORMAT. For more information, please refer to MS-DOS Help or Windows NT command line command help.
